Late comeback sees Qala Saints stun Victoria as Nadur Youngsters claim vital win

Qala Saints FC produced a remarkable turnaround to defeat SK Victoria Wanderers FC 5–3 in a dramatic MD20 clash of the GFA Gozo Football League First Division at the Gozo Stadium on Monday.

Victoria Wanderers looked in complete control early on, taking the lead after just eight minutes through Juan Manuel Peña Ferrucho. They doubled their advantage shortly after the break when Mustapha Lawal Amodu made it 2–0, before Peña Ferrucho added his second from the penalty spot on 59 minutes to put his side 3–0 ahead.

However, Qala Saints mounted an incredible comeback. Kurt Mifsud pulled one back on 63 minutes, sparking a revival, and Nicholas Inguanez reduced the gap further on 71 minutes. The equaliser arrived ten minutes from time when Wallisson Alberto Dantas dos Santos found the net to make it 3–3.

With momentum fully on their side, Qala completed the turnaround as Gabriel Cardona fired them ahead on 84 minutes, before Dantas dos Santos sealed the victory with his second goal of the match four minutes later.

In the other match, Nadur Youngsters FC secured a 3–1 win over Xewkija Tigers FC.

Nadur made a perfect start, taking the lead after just three minutes through David Oliveira Souza. Xewkija responded in the second half with an equaliser from Brian Alejandro Parada on 61 minutes, but Nadur regained control soon after.

Diego Fernando Rodriguez Angulo restored Nadur’s lead on 70 minutes, before Murilo Scarpari sealed the win deep into stoppage time.

Following these results, Kercem Ajax FC remain top of the standings with 44 points from 17 matches, ahead of Ghajnsielem FC on 33 points. Xewkija Tigers FC sit third with 28 points, just ahead of Qala Saints FC on 26. SK Victoria Wanderers FC have 17 points, followed by Xaghra United FC on 14 and Nadur Youngsters FC on 11.
