European leraders insist on free-passage in the Strait of Hormuz

European leaders gathered in Paris yesterday to hold talks on maritime sea-passage in the Strait of Hormuz. The European leaders asserted that the strait should not be privatised and free navigation should be allowed. They also said that this statement applies to all parties in the war.

French President Emmanuel Macron hosted the meeting with British Prime Minister Keir Starmer, German Chancellor Friedrich Merz and Italian Prime Minister Girogia Meloni being present.

President Emmanuel Macron seemed unusually elated with the presence of the Italian Premier after she broke from US President Donald Trump on his derogatory comments against Pope Leo XIV. The Italian Premier was previously one of Europe’s strongest allies of President Trump.

The Strait of Hormuz is being gradually re-opened.

Britain and France have also pledged to send their navy to the Strait of Hormuz to police the Strait. This was the condition Europeans made earlier that their navies would only be involved once hostilities are over.
