In total contempt of the Maltese people

Yesterday’s events in Malta were reminiscent of a dictatorial regime and Prime Minister Robert Abela is in total contempt of all Maltese people.

The Maltese Herald has sent questions to the government on the government’s ongoing gas and electricity purchases. We asked at what price the government is buying electricity from Electrogas and we also asked by how much is the government purchasing its supply.

The government is fooling the public by saying that the government is hedging with “international banks”. There was no hedging before the current energy crisis and this is is why we are paying millions of Euros of subsidies to keep electricity prices capped.

Instead of being transparent and answering our questions, the Prime Minister went on a propaganda campaign aided by his personal and publicly-funded propagandist Saviour Balzan, and announced that Malta will have guarantee of supply just as the Strait of Hormuz was opened and the crisis is over. The oil price is going down and the flow of vessels through the Strait of Hormuz is being restored.

The Labour government is also twisting the statements of the Nationalist Party and contorting them via the public broadcaster in what seems to be a very dictatorial and manipulative approach to political discourse.

Instead of discussing in a mature and respectful way Malta’s energy and electricity situation with transparency and actual figures, the Prime Minister is abusing of the energy sector to score cheap and partisan political points. We have an infant-idiot Premier who is gambling with the most important aspects of our country whilst refusing to engage in a mature and transparent discussion.

This behaviour is appalling and purely dictatorial. We used to protest day and night against the Lawrence Gonzi administration for very similar behaviour and now the Labour government has perfected corruption, incompetence to an extent of taking us back to Lawrence Gonzi’s politics, but it’s even worse today because the volume of corruption and incompetence is significantly higher.

The Prime Minister and the Labour Party have total contempt for the Maltese people and are treating everyone else like idiots. The Prime Minister expects us to clap at him and hold him in high regard for supposedly “securing supply” while he keeps secret the government’s most important and public deals. He expects the Maltese to respect him while he treats them like idiots.

This is classist and appalling behaviour that is exactly the same kind of behaviour by autocrats who want to fool their people with ignorance and propaganda. This is a government that hates us – let’s be very clear on this.

Refusing to divulge information about the government’s biggest and most important public deals is an indication of gross corruption and incompetence. These people are classist, reckless, spiteful and hateful and they are gambling with our future with outright corruption and incompetence covered-up by infantile and stupid propaganda.
