A 40 year old man, Jurgen Cassar known as ‘Tal-Fieres’ has died in a freak scammel incident in Triq il Kaccatur, Qormi earlier this morning at around 6am.
The man was working at the back of the truck when he was caught in the machinery and died on the spot. Medical teams were called to the incident only a few minutes later but were unable to save Cassar who succumbed to his injuries immediately.
Tributes to Cassar, who was described as a hard working man by many were paid by his family as well as by Valletta Deputy Mayor Ray Azzopardi.
Magistrate Monica Borg Galea is holding an inquiry assisted by the police in their investigations.
