Talks in Islamabad between the US and Iranian delegations did not take place as the Iranian regime said that no talks will be held as long as the US Navy continues its blockade of the Iranian side of the Strait of Hormuz. The US naval blockade of the Strait of Hormuz is effectively halting large flows of Iranian oil exports, crippling the Iranian economy in the process.
China continues to be severely affected with the blockade with its cheap oil supply cut-off. US President Donald Trump said that he won’t allow China to use its foreign oil trade with Iran and Venezuela to replace US Dollar-denominated oil purchases with its Yuan currency.
Meanwhile, the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps have paraded ballistic missiles in the streets of Tehran. Iranian Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi insisted that the blockading of Iranian ports by the US navy and seizing ships and their crew are a violations of the ceasefire.
The US seized another sanctioned-vessel, this time in the Indian ocean, east of Sri Lanka, as part of its anti-sanctions operations against Iran. The oil-tanker Tifani (IMO 9273337) was flying a Botswana flag and was loaded with Iranian oil.
US President Donald Trump has said that the blockade against Iran will continue, but also extended the ceasefire, inviting the Iranian delegation to continue talks.
