Enjoy it while it lasts because it’s going to get much worse

It’s exhausting living under an illiberal government that is building a one-party dictatorship. It can also feel hopeless and tragic as the state is captured by a literal criminal clique which is legislating laws and implementing projects to accommodate its criminal associates: legalising the trade of wild animals, decriminalising money-laundering and tax evasion, and even building a race-track for criminal friends.

Joseph Muscat is being rehabilitated by the Labour Party and his control over the Labour Party is as stronger as it has been since he was forced to resign in 2019-20.

The Labour Party is not evolving progressively – it is further decaying into a criminal organisation that is building a dictatorship. Continuity within Labour needs a servile leadership that will serve the interests of Joseph Muscat and the satellite criminal cliques.

This criminal faction within Labour is currently spearhead by Alex Agius Saliba with the Prime Minister providing it with the necessary funding and legal arrangements to avoid prison and preserve its political influence. The leadership candidate of this criminal clique won’t be Alex Agius Saliba – it will be Energy Minister Miriam Dalli and for very good reason.

Energy Minister Miriam Dalli has successfully preserved the arrangements between the government and Electrogas. She has also kept the government’s energy contracts secret, while also covering-up decades of corruption by Electrogas. Minister Miriam Dalli has also been the most significant architect of government policy. Despite the fact the Opposition is constantly hitting at the Prime Minister for raising the national debt at a record rate, it is actually Minister Miriam Dalli responsible for the bankruptcy of Enemalta and the €1.5+ billion in electricity and fuel subsidies.

Minister Dalli has been the most impactful Minister in the Labour government – for good or for worse. She is technically responsible for the current state of the public debt. As of now, Minister Dalli is the most senior and influential politician of Joseph Muscat’s clique that can potentially clinch the Labour Party leadership following Premier Abela’s departure.

If the hallmark skill of Joseph Muscat’s clique involves covering-up corrupt contracts while striking large public-deals in secret and with no transparency – Miriam Dalli takes first place.

So enjoy it while it lasts. It’s going to get much worse.
