Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi travelled to Saint Petersburg and met with Vladimir Putin after talks in Islamabad with the US administration failed to renew. While in Moscow, Minister Abbas Araghchi said that Iran and Russia are strategic partners.
Before travelling to Russia, Minister Araghchi travelled to Oman, after leaving Pakistan. The visit to Russia was described as just another bilateral meeting.
Russia is a major weapons supplier to Iran along with China and it has also aided Iran in building its nuclear-energy porgramme.
There are no developments on talks between the US and Iran and the Strait of Hormuz is still blocked from either side.
