Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky announced today that Ukraine will be issuing new sanctions against Israeli entities trading in stolen Ukrainian grain from Russia. The announcement came after a second ship carrying stolen Ukrainian grain was noted on its way to the Israeli Port of Haifa.
Earlier this month, the Russian vessel Abinsk I, unloaded up to 43,800 tonnes of wheat in the Port of Haifa. Reacting publicly to the incident, Israeli Foreign Minister Gideon Saโar feigned ignorance of the event and said an investigation was to be conducted. The Ukrainian government had warned the Israeli government about the vessel up to two weeks in advance.
According to Haaretz, the EU is also considering a sanctions-response to the incidents.ย ย
