Joseph Muscat’s faction within the Labour Party is making a coordinated push against Chris Fearne. Justice Minister Jonathan, who has a personal and direct relationship and ongoing communication with the Attorney General, is demanding that Chris Fearne does not contest the general election on the grounds that he, like Roderick Galdes and Clayton Bartolo, has pending and ongoing investigations and Court cases against him.
Meanwhile, the Labour Party is now fielding the nomination of Franco Mercieca, an ophthalmologist and former Labour MP who is also a very close friend and associate of Joseph Muscat. Franco Mercieca’s son, Charles Caruana, is the lawyer for Yorgen Fenech.
Labour Party sources have informed me that Joseph Muscat’s faction is also attempting to cannibalise Chris Fearne’s district while putting maximum pressure on him to force him out of the election race.
Prime Minister Robert Abela is abetting Joseph Muscat’s campaign against Chris Fearne without confronting him directly.
There is ongoing strife within the Labour Party after Roderick Galdes and Clayton Bartolo were not allowed to contest the general election. Meanwhile, Joseph Muscat is set to significantly increase his influence within the parliamentary group with ongoing changes and additions.
