Following an hour-long conversation with Vladimir Putin, President Donald Trump has announced a potential US troop withdrawal from Germany. The US President did not provide any details; however, it has long been known that Vladimir Putin has been pressuring President Trump to pull US troops out of Europe.
This would not be the first time that Vladimir Putin has made this request to President Trump.
Later on in the evening, during a press conference, President Donald Trump went on a tirade against Ukraine and said that it was losing the war after it lost 159 of its ships. Ukraine never had a navy and it successfully destroyed most of Russia’s Black Sea fleet
President Trump has been pressuring Ukraine to capitulate to Russia via mediation talks with Russia, but Ukraine remains steadfast in its resistance against the Russian invasion.
German Chancellor Friedrich Merz has consistently emphasised his good relationship with President Donald Trump and remains supportive of the presence of US troops in Germany, including at Ramstein Air Base, which has also been used by the United States during operations in the Near East, including the war against Iran. Germany hosts up to 38,000 US troops.
However, Germany has also been planning for a potential US troop withdrawal and is ramping up its defences and military to avoid being dependent on any other country for defence and security.
