France and Germany to keep sending weapons to Ukraine despite opposition by President Putin

Outgoing German Chancellor Olaf Scholz and French President Emmanuel Macron gave statements to the press saying that they will keep sending weapons to Ukraine despite opposition from Russian President Vladimir Putin. Putin made his request to halt Western arms deliveries to Ukraine in a phone call with President Donald Trump. President Putin is also insisting for no Western troops in Ukraine, but an international pro-Ukrainian alliance is not deterred by Russia’s position.

Yesterday night, Russia launched more than sixty attacks against Ukrainian civilian infrastructure, despite supposedly agreeing to a ceasefire on energy and civilian infrastructure.

President Macron travelled to Berlin yesterday evening to hold discussions with the outgoing Chancellor and incoming Chancellor Fredrich Merz. Prior to flying to Berlin, President Macron met with French Raffaele pilots and announced two new Raffaele squadrons which will be equipped with hypersonic missiles. A new nuclear armed Raffaele squadron will also be deployed at the Luxeuil-les-Bains 116 in the Franche-Comté region with the border of Germany to serve as a nuclear deterrent for Germany. Incoming German Chancellor Fredrich wants France to share its nuclear deterrent with Germany.

    Having Rafale’s stationed in Germany with nuclear-tipped hypersonic missiles is all well and good to show off some form of credible deterrence. But such airbases are not survivable and will be the first to be taken out. The ultimate deterrent is the nuclear armed submarine. We need more of these patrolling the seas. It is more of these that will really send shockwaves. The only issue is complexity and cost. Nuclear missile tech (warhead, delivery and guidance) is a closely guarded secret.
