ADPD – The Green Party is the only political party that has so far published in full its electoral manifesto for the general election campaign. The elections will be held on May 30th. ADPD leader urged the public to vote for ADPD to increase accountability in parliament. She added that a critical voice is also needed to challenge the government’s corruption.
ADPD is officially the first political party in Malta to propose the decriminilisation of abortion.
In its manifesto ADPD is proposing:
More regulated political party financing with political parties barred from receiving individual donations higher than โฌ5000. Political parties should receive โฌ3 every year for every vote.
An end to appeals over planning applications on ODZ, the end of the rationalisation plan for ODZ, a redrawing of local plans with the aim of increasing open spaces and natural areas.
An introduction of a basic minimum wage and a discussion on the creation of a living-wage.
A new tax on property rentals to incentivise property sales.
Creation of economic and social cooperatives.
MATSEC’s and curriculum responsibility to be transferred to the Ministry of Education from the University of Malta.
An end to bird-trapping and higher enforcement and fines for illegal hunting.
A new congestion charge for cars and increased pedestrianisation of urban areas.
Decriminlisation of abortion.
A new mass transport plan to reduce cars from the streets.
An energy plan fully based on renewable-energy sources.
