Yesterday, following the Victory Day parade in Moscow, Vladimir Putin gave a press conference and announced that Russia was reneging on its commitment to exchange 1,000 prisoners of war under the ceasefire agreement reached with Ukraine. Donald Trump had previously claimed that he had personally pushed for the POW exchange.
There is yet no official confirmation form either Russia or Ukraine that the exchange will take place.
Ukraine allowed Russia to hold its Victory Day parade without any threats in exchange for a pledge to carry out a POW exchange, which Russia now appears to be withdrawing from.
Fighting in the Ukrainian front-liens resumed as soon as Victory Day Parade in Moscow was over with clashes reported in Zaporizhzhia.
In his speech, Putin also threatened Armenia over its closer ties with Europe and demanded that it holds a referendum to determine its political future. Armenia is bidding to join the European Union as it establishes closer ties. He also complained about Finland joining NATO saying Russia has no territorial disputes with the country.
Putin said that President Zelensky is ready to meet him personally, but also said that he will meet with the Ukrainian President only after a final agreement is settled.
