Alex Borg proposes direct subsidies for home buyers as supermarket-style bidding election campaign heats up

Nationalist Party Leader Alex Borg has yesterday continued to issue his Labour-like economic manifesto as he announced that the Nationalist Party will be giving up to €45,0000 to €50,000 in direct subsidies to first-time home buyers. The proposal is very similar to the Labour Party’s pledge to subsidise first-time buyers.

The Nationalist Party has not published its electoral manifesto yet and is issuing electoral pledges piecemeal and on a daily basis.

The Nationalist Party’s proposals strongly resemble those being made by Labour as the Nationalist Party disavowed dissent and said he will conduct “a positive campaign”.

The Nationalist Party is promising a wide range of direct subsidies and tax cuts in order to compete against Labour’s own Peronist economic programme. The Nationalist Party is not opposing Labour’s economic model and is rather embracing it in full.

Earlier today, in a press conference with Darren Carabott, Alex Borg reiterated his policy of reducing the number of foreigners in Malta and this policy would also help bring property prices down. The Nationalist Party announced that it will be creating an entity that focuses on the population level of Malta.
