The Malta Football Association on Tuesday officially announced the nominees for the 2026 Malta FA Awards during a press conference held at Centenary Hall in Taโ Qali.
Addressing the media, Malta FA Vice President Adrian Casha highlighted the significance of the awards, describing them as an important occasion to recognise excellence both on and off the pitch throughout the football season.
Apart from the prestigious Footballer of the Year awards, the ceremony will also honour recipients of the Fair Play Award, Football Social Responsibility Award, Presidentโs Award and the Gozitan Achievement Award, among others.
The Malta FA also confirmed that fans will once again have the opportunity to vote for the Best Goal of the Year award from a shortlist of 12 finalists, which will be announced in the coming days.
โThe Malta FA Awards are not only an annual accolade recognising the best performers in the menโs and womenโs domestic leagues, but also an opportunity to honour individuals whose exemplary behaviour, both on and off the field, makes them stand out as true ambassadors of the game,โ Casha said.
The 2026 Malta FA Awards Night will take place on Tuesday, May 26, at the DoubleTree by Hilton Malta and will be broadcast live on TVMSport+.
Among the nominees for the MFA Footballer of the Year โ Male award are Henry Bonello, Jake Grech, Joseph Mbong, Brandon Paiber and Dunstan Vella.
The nominees for the womenโs award are Yulya Carella, Maria Farrugia, Stephania Farrugia, Amber Grech and Nicole Sciberras.
For Coach of the Year, the nominees are Thane Micallef, Daniel Portela and Vincenzo Potenza.
The BOV Young Player of the Year shortlist features Jake Azzopardi, Kean Scicluna and Sven Xerri.
Meanwhile, the nominees for Foreign Player of the Year are Yuri De Jesus Messias, Joao Victor Souza dos Santos and Federico Nicholas Varela Escudero.
Awards will also be presented across the Challenge League, Amateur League divisions, Youth Leagues and womenโs competitions, together with recognitions for top scorers, Hall of Fame inductees and the Best Goal of the Year.
