The Electoral Commission announced that voter turnout during Tuesday’s early voting session for the 2026 General Election reached approximately 96.19% by 10pm.
According to figures released by the Commission, 6,821 voters were eligible to cast their ballot during the special voting process, with 6,561 votes ultimately submitted.
The early voting session primarily catered for Assistant Electoral Commissioners and other authorised voters eligible to cast their ballot ahead of polling day.
Meanwhile, the Electoral Commission also confirmed that around 18,000 voting documents remained uncollected as of Tuesday evening, with collection centres continuing to operate ahead of Thursday’s final deadline.
Voting documents may still be collected on Wednesday between 8am and 1pm and from 3pm to 9pm, while on Thursday offices will remain open until midnight for the final collection period.
The General Election will officially take place on Saturday, with vote counting scheduled to begin on Sunday morning at the Naxxar Counting Hall.
