Deputy Party Leader and MEP Alex Agius Saliba has issued a statement demanding the preservation of dangerous fireworks rooms in the Maltese countryside. Alex Agius Saliba is making these demands following a massive explosion of a fireworks room in Naxxar (Magħtab), which killed several farm animals and damaged farms.
Alex Agius Saliba is implying that the production of fireworks by dilettantes in these countryside rooms is a Maltese tradition. As expected, Labour is reacting in a populist manner to this issue and is allowing impunity to reign. So far, no one has taken accountability for the explosion, when the owners of the room and the explosives should essentially be held responsible for the damage they have caused.
Instead, we have Labour coming to their defence. Things are getting so insane and irresponsible that they are not even able to ban these dangerous rooms, and instead, Labour is finding ways to appease this community of dilettantes at the expense of society.
It is obvious to any decent person that these rooms should not be allowed, and that the production and procurement of fireworks should be carried out in a professional and secure manner. Labour is literally fighting in favour of regression.
