Greenhouse gas emissions decrease in Europe: increase only in four countries including in Malta

According to the latest Eurostat figures. Malta is one of only four countries in the European Union whose greenhouse gas emissions have increased since 2015. In fact, Malta has recorded the highest relative increase in greenhouse gas emissions since then.

Malta’s Greenhouse gas emissions increased by 169.4% since 2015, with Cyprus adding 10.7%, Lithuania 9.5% and Romania 5.4%. The countries which had mostly decreased their greenhouse gas emissions were Estonia with -41.7%, Finland at -30.7% and Germany -27.3%.

Most of the greenhouse gas emissions in Malta are increasing due to private vehicles which keep increasing at a very rapid rate.
