And the cover-ups begin

In one of his first decision upon entering office, Home Affairs Minister Glenn Bedingfield has ordered an internal investigation on the use of a laptop and an internet key by prison inmate and bomb-maker Adriag Agius, one of the Tal-Maksar brothers.

Adrian Agius and Robert Agius, who are known as the Maksar brothers were handed a lifetime sentence for the murder of Carmel Chircop.  Adrian Agius and Jamie Vella were also found guilty of supplying the bomb that killed Daphne Caruana Galizia.

The revelations were initially made by Jason Azzopardi, who also serves as the lawyer for the family of Daphne Caruana Galizia in the court cases concerning her murder.

The Home Affairs Minister has refused to open a Magisterial Inquiry, which would have been customary, and instead has ordered an “internal inquiry”. The move is being considered as a typical Labour reaction to attempt to cover-up for individuals and avoid scrutiny of government officials.

Jason Azzopardi also claimed that Adrian Agius was planning to commit a crime from prison, and that WhatsApp messages provide evidence of this.

Minister Glenn Bedingfield has not issued a statement about the case.
