Birżebbuġa, Marsaxlokk and Neptunes claim Summer League wins

Birżebbuġa, Marsaxlokk MFF Limited, and Neptunes BGM all recorded important victories as the BOV Summer League continued with another exciting round of matches on Friday.

Birżebbuġa 26-16 Ta’ Xbiex Amigos

Birżebbuġa continued their impressive run in the First Division with a comprehensive 26-16 victory over Ta’ Xbiex Amigos.

The winners dominated from the opening whistle, building a 6-2 first-quarter lead before extending their advantage to 14-6 by halftime. They remained firmly in control after the break, winning the third quarter 5-4 before closing the match with a 7-6 final session to complete a convincing ten-goal triumph.

Marko Radulović once again led the scoring with seven goals, while Max Aquilina added six and Jake Ciantar contributed five. For Ta’ Xbiex Amigos, Roko Pelicari netted eight goals, with Vito Figliomeni adding five.

Marsaxlokk MFF Limited 30-15 Barracudas

Marsaxlokk MFF Limited produced the most emphatic victory of the evening, overwhelming Barracudas 30-15.

Marsaxlokk led 7-3 after the opening quarter, but Barracudas battled back to trail by just 11-9 at halftime. The second half, however, belonged entirely to Marsaxlokk, who exploded for 19 goals while conceding only six to run away with a dominant victory.

Captain Nikola Bogdanovic delivered a sensational individual performance, scoring 18 goals. Jamie Borg Tabone added five, while Sean Mifsud contributed three. Barracudas’ leading scorer was Marton Doczi, who finished with eight goals.

Neptunes BGM 17-15 Sliema Nexawin

The standout match of the evening came in the Premier Division, where Neptunes BGM edged Sliema Nexawin 17-15 in a closely contested encounter.

Neptunes made a strong start, taking a 4-1 lead after the opening quarter and extending their advantage to 9-6 at halftime. Sliema fought back superbly after the interval, winning the third quarter 6-2 to move into a narrow 12-11 lead heading into the final period.

The final quarter produced an exciting finish as Neptunes regained control with a 6-3 scoring burst to seal a hard-fought two-goal victory.

Captain Stevie Camilleri and Marco Zuvela were the driving forces behind the win, each scoring six goals. Mark Castillo added two, while Sam Gialanze, Julian Valletta, and Ivan Nagaev each found the net once.

For Sliema, Alberto Barroso led the scoring with four goals, while Jake Cachia and Elijah Schembri each scored three. Jayden Cutajar and Daniel Rizzo added two goals apiece, with Benji Cachia also getting on the scoresheet.

The latest results see Birżebbuġa, Marsaxlokk MFF Limited, and Neptunes BGM strengthen their positions in their respective divisions as the BOV Summer League continues to gather momentum.
