There is currently ongoing one of the most important trials in the history of Maltese crime and politics, yet the Nationalist Party remains completely silent.
There have been no tributes to the murdered journalist, no statements about Keith Schembri’s involvement with Melvin Theuma and his phantom government job, and no apparent concern over the fact that disgraced former Prime Minister Joseph Muscat and his close associate Keith Schembri were allegedly being briefed on the investigation by lead investigator Keith Arnaud. All of this is emerging through testimony in court. These are facts we already knew, but they are matters that should deeply concern the Opposition.
Members of Parliament have legal immunity. They can freely discuss any ongoing matter of national interest in Parliament without legal repercussions.
The Nationalist Party is capitulating to the Mafia. Its justice spokesperson is even representing associates of Yorgen Fenech in court.
Let’s make one thing very clear: if the Nationalist Party intends to spend the next five years remaining silent on the crisis in rule-of-law, it will be complicit in Labour’s transformation of Malta into a Mafia state.
