Labour’s continued systematic attack against the free press

The Times of Malta is currently on a serious ingratiating streak with the Labour government, with its latest favour to the government being to allow it to propagate pseudo-progressive ideas that are actually a disguised attack on the free press.

After throwing a tantrum at the Prime Minister and the whole Labour Party over not becoming President of the Republic, Helena Dalli became a sage-savant opinionist in the Times of Malta, with her latest deeply intellectual piece being about why social media has amplified the bad elements of the press and why the free press should be more responsible by being less “judgemental” of individuals.

It’s obvious that politicians find social media a serious threat to their influence, while it indeed enables the free press to disseminate information. The self-interested piece is right on cue with Labour’s current systematic attack against the free press and its intention to increase libel penalties.

It’s always the most corrupt and opportunistic of them all who press for tougher measures against the press. Helena Dalli and her family excelled at the pigging-out scene thanks to their connection with Joseph Muscat, and being subjected to scrutiny inevitably makes the corrupt and opportunistic ashamed, hence this enthusiasm for restricting the press by these individuals—just as the corrupt idiot Ramona Attard and the corrupt Rosianne Cutajar are vying for the same restrictions on the press.
