Opposition reiterates resignation of Minister Miriam Dalli: demand report on causes on all power-cuts

Earlier today, the Nationalist Party reiterated its call for Energy Minister Miriam Dalli to resign. In a scathing speech at a press conference in front of the Ministry for Energy building in Valletta, Opposition MP Mark Anthony Sammut asked how the €140 million allocated to the electricity grid upgrade had been spent and why this expenditure had not solved the recurring power-cuts problem.

Mark Anthony Sammut remarked that Miriam Dalli had been in office for two consecutive legislatures. He also demanded a report delineating the causes of all power cuts and asked why Enemalta had not released its accounts since 2022.

Opposition MP Darren Carabott warned that power cuts bring economic activity to a halt and that political responsibility had to be shouldered first through the resignation of Miriam Dalli.

Darren Carabott also said that PN has called for an urgent meeting of the MCESD and urgent steps need to be taken immediately to address the crisis.
