Keeping up with the theme of political appointments within the diplomatic service, we have confirmed that Edward Żammit-Lewis is gunning for an ambassadorial post to France, and he’s probably going to get it.
Edward Żammit-Lewis did not contest the last general election.
Labour has filled the diplomatic service with its own appointees, appointing its own friends and bażużli rather than competent and technical personnel to ambassadorial and consular positions. Some of Labour’s appointees in these posts include former Minister Emmanuel Mallia (currently ambassador to Spain), Jeffrey Pullicino Orlando (non-resident ambassador to Rwanda) and Stephen Montefort, who is UK High Commissioner.
Previous Ambassador to Libya Franklin Aquilina is currently facing serious charges of rape.
