Malta’s Consul General to Shanghai facilitates business in China to criminal suspect Joseph Muscat

Malta’s Consul-General to Shanghai, Lisa Azzopardi, has been facilitating private business meetings between Joseph Muscat and Chinese companies in China.

A meeting was held earlier this year on April 13th between representatives of the Chinese chemicals and pharmaceuticals company ABA Chemicals Corporation. Present for this meeting were Malta’s Consul-General in Shanghai, Lisa Azzopardi, disgraced ex-Prime Minister Joseph Muscat, and his lawyer Charlon Gouder. According to the company, the meeting was about the company’s interest in working with Malta over agrochemicals and pharmaceutical collaboration and environmental protection. The company also says that Muscat was invited to the site and was met by the Chairman and CEO of the company, Cai Tong, and other leading representatives of the company.

Lisa Azzopardi is rather unknown in local diplomatic circles after she was shot to her post as Consul-General recently in 2023. The meeting was never announced by the DOI through the normal channels.

Joseph Muscat has enabled a culture of corrupt and shady dealings with Chinese businesses through his status and the Labour Party. His friends and associates are also dipping into this new culture of corruption with Chinese businesses, and it is being extended through the Labour Party with very severe and bizarre consequences.
