Iran and Houthis renew mild attacks as Iran-US ceasefire ends

The Houthis in Yemen have launched drones at Saudi Arabia’s airport and oil refinery in Najran in the south of the country, while the Iranian regime has renewed its attacks on commercial shipping passing through the Strait of Hormuz after an Iran-US ceasefire ended earlier this week on Monday 17th August.

US naval operations in the Strait Hormuz to protect commercial shipping continue, minimising the risk of attack by the Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps, however Iran intends to beef up its defences and renew militarisation while warning the US that it is still claims control and rights to the strait, according to Iranian state media.

Shipping through the Strait of Hormuz remains active thanks to the US Navy which Axios claims amounts up to 15-20 oil tankers every day.

Meanwhile, US President Donald Trump said that Iran missed the chance to sign a good economic deal and he will now proceed to wage economic war on Iran over its refusal to agree to peaceful terms.

Meanwhile, the oil price keeps going slowly higher with the Brent crude futures contract priced above $94 as of writing.
