Parliament has convened this morning to discuss with urgency on the request of the Opposition to debate the the conclusion of the verdict of Yorgen Fenech and the investigation of her murder.
The Opposition Leader Alex Borg is condemning the interference of the government into the police investigation of Daphne’s murder and urged the government to immediately implement the recommendations of the public inquiry into her murder. He said that these reforms would defend journalists.
Alex Borg also reminded that the incumbent Prime Minister Robert Abela was against the opening of the public inquiry into her murder. The Opposition Leader also quoted the Prime Minister’s past remarks opposing the call of Daphne’s sons to initiate an inquiry. Borg reiterated that Daphne’s family has been denied justice.
Borg is also urging the Prime Minister to declare that the new and ongoing investigations will be conducted completely free and independent. He also asked how the investigations could be independent if the current Home Affairs Glenn Bedingfield was one of the most active bloggers spreading hatred against Daphne.
