Malta’s Minister for Foreign Affairs Chris Fearne, is in Warsaw today for bilateral talks with Polish Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Radosław Sikorski. The meeting forms part of events marking 55 years of diplomatic relations between Malta and Poland and includes a panel discussion titled “Nationhood and bilateral relations: Malta and Poland in Europe.”
In his opening speech to the event, the Polish Foreign Minister said that he appreciated Malta’s support for sanctions on Russia. He said that Maltese politicians had argued that formal neutrality should not be an excuse to ignore the difference between an aggressor and a victim of aggression. Consequently, Malta has supported measures to hold Russia accountable for its actions, and Poland appreciates that.
