Justice Minister Clifton Grima made a statement earlier today defending the jurors in Yorgen Fenech’s trial and also the jury system, saying that just because some people don’t like a verdict, it doesn’t mean that the system doesn’t work, and that we should not make suppositions but allow the justice system to work.
He boasted about the government’s reforms to the justice system and said that they will carry out more reforms.
The Justice Minister threw shade at those who are criticising the justice system, saying that this is not legitimate criticism and that some people are being selective in their opinions on justice.
He made these comments while there is an ongoing Police investigation into a number of jurors, seemingly contradicting himself, as he implied that we should let the institutions work and not make any suppositions.
The government is trying its best to normalise the current abhorrent situation and keep a lid on the public’s anger by propagating the idea that some people are being excessively and unreasonably angry.
Only under Labour can a murderer of a journalist walk free with government Ministers urging us not to “exaggerate” and to refrain from making “illegitimate criticism”.
