Oil has fallen below $100 since the start of the week, offering some relief from persistently high oil prices, but the war in Yemen and Saudi Arabia is dragging on. Britain announced today that it will provide air-to-air refuelling services to Saudi Arabia as it continues its airstrikes against Houthi targets.
US Secretary of State Marco Rubio reiterated US support for Saudi Arabia, but Washington has so far declined to become directly involved in military action against the Houthis.
The Houthis are currently in control of large stretches of Yemen’s Red Sea coast close to the strategic Bab al-Mandab waterway and have struck multiple Saudi oil facilities after declaring a blockade on Saudi shipping, causing a sudden spike in oil prices.
