The previous drug dealer and Prime Minister’s business associate Christian Borg will also greatly benefit from the money laundering reforms that the Labour government is trying to rush through. The arraignment and imminent prosecution in court by the Police of Christian Borg over money laundering charges has been held up by Attorney General Victoria Buttigieg herself over technicalities that don’t affect the fundamental case itself.
The Police have a money laundering case against Christian Borg and they have plenty of evidence against him, but the Attorney General is telling the Police they should be able to compile evidence of literally all the money laundering activities of Christian Borg before arraigning him to court. This is an absurdity and the Attorney General knows it because the Police have enough evidence as they do and a suspected criminal may not necessarily be arraigned in court over all the ongoing investigations against him at once. The Police can make subsequent arraignments while the suspect is already in custody facing other charges.
Some of the documents the Attorney General is asking for from the Police are documents of money laundering activity that Christian Borg is suspected of having conducted in Spain, and the process of obtaining these documents from the Spanish authorities is a lengthy process. The Attorney General has a million excuses that she can and is using to prevent the imminent arrest and prosecution of Christian Borg, all the while allowing him to move his assets around with impunity. Christian Borg is being protected directly by the Prime Minister and aided by his brother-in-law.
