I’ve read this article on the recent Nationalist Party drama with interest given that the only faction in the Nationalist Party currently vying for the party leadership is the Alex Borg-Adrian Delia faction. This faction is also currently dominating in PN in terms of numbers and is currently the only faction that is presenting itself as a viable faction of PN.
After some calls I made today to some PN insiders there seems to be little and no enthusiasm by anyone in particular over a potential leadership change. Lethargy is the favourite feeling among the top-brass who prefer living in their deluded reality that politically they are on the right-track and nothing needs to change. On the other hand, those who want to change the leadership come from the Alex Borg-Adrian Delia faction.
There is also and very clearly, right now in the PN, no projection of any presence of the “Blue Heroes” in its political activities. Note that as of recently, Bernard Grech has been appearing mostly with Adrian Delia by his side. What Robert Abela likes to describe as the “Establishment” within PN, has never been weaker. Even Karol Aquilina, (Robert Aquilina’s brother), who regularly makes strong statements on corruption in Parliament, is barely seen on the Nationalist Party’s media. It’s as if Bernard Grech is playing into Robert Abela’s rhetoric and avoiding to associate himself with Repubblika and its Nationalist supporters over fears he would be labeled as part of the “establishment”.
Go ahead, and join the club Bernard because if you’d do, you’d probably get more air time on ONE.
