The Philippines is slowly becoming an organic and natural ally of Malta

Demographic changes in Maltese society are particularly impactful given its relatively small size. One of the current demographic changes Maltese society is experiencing is the inclusion of people from The Philippines in our society. As of 2020, Filipinos were the largest third-country national group in Malta with more than 13,000 Filipinos working and living in Malta.

Alliances and friendships with societies don’t necessarily come from top down measures via state agreements. Alliances and friendships can also be built organically via human experiences and demographics and this is exactly what’s happening with Malta and The Philippines.

It is important to understand how the world works and what’s unfolding to have informed positions on politics. You may hear some washed-out communist politician from the 1970s preaching Mintoffian ideas on neutrality which are completely incongruent with the reality of today. We are meshed into different societies in an ever more globalised and connected world. Of the societies we have aligned ourselves with is the Philippines society. Both Malta and the Philippines are predominantly Catholic countries.

The Maltese are also marrying Filipinos and in The Philippines there are also Maltese families living there. So, when China deliberately attacks The Philippines and its sovereignty, it’s also directly attacking the Maltese in the Philippines and indirectly hurting the Filipino community in Malta.

Here below I am attaching some photos of this year’s celebrations of the National Day of the Philippines as celebrated in Floriana.

  2. How daft can you be. Quote the source of new revenue for the church from Philippines. Your hatred for the local church is well known.

    1. The point of the article is that third-country nationals are a net positive for the Catholic Church. What’s wrong with this and why are you so angry?

      1. No need for a reply for such an idiot troll.
