How Joseph Muscat played the Labour Party

Apparently, Jason Micallef loves being the little useless idiot of Joseph Muscat.

I have it on good authority that Joseph Muscat never actually intended for Jason Micallef to run for the Deputy Leadership of the Labour Party.

Joseph Muscat expected the backlash against Jason Micallef and this played in his favour to leverage a compromise candidate. Following Jason Micallef’s nomination for the Deputy-Leadership race, Robert Abela was forced by Joseph Muscat to enter into negotiations with him to chose another candidate. Eventually, the compromise candidate chosen by Joseph Muscat was Alex Agius Saliba and Robert Abela accepted this without any protest. In fact, Alex Agius Saliba is running uncontested.

Robert Abela didn’t even try to resist this deal. Neither did he try to come up with an alternative candidate to counter Alex Agius Saliba’s bulldozing and corrupt influence.

Alex Agius Saliba will be the Deputy Leader of the Labour Party, but this may very well be the peak of his career. He will be recalled to Malta from Brussels and given a cabinet position following his appointment, triggering an election count for his replacement in the European Parliament.

Alex Agius Saliba has marked himself as Joseph Muscat’s man and this will stick with him for the rest of his political career. As Joseph Muscat’s influence and power in the party wanes down by time, so will Alex Agius Saliba’s. After all, Anakin Skywalker never actually replaced the emperor despite all the power he had.

  1. If AAS is planning to renounce his MP seat in Brussels to take up a ministerial position in Malta than this guy is either a bigger imbecile than he looks or else he is already smelling the ham. Moreover Labour is still dazed and confused from the tremors it suffered in the last MEP and local counsel elections. Despite using the power of incumbency to the hilt, Labour only managed to crawl and achieve sour feeble victories. The momentum has been lost and Labour is not going to recover. To fall back of the likes of Jason Micallef, Norma Saliba, this is realy scraping the bottom of the barrel. What next is RA going to engage Jimmy Magro or Joe Borg as well?

  2. What the PL needs is to chsnge it’s DNA not it’s mask!

  3. Whether he likes it or not, I can’t say. However the term ‘useless idiot’ could not describe him better!
