Professor Stephen Montefort earmarked for Ambassador to the United Kingdom

Surgeon, lung specialist and University of Malta professor, Stephen Montefort will be extracted out of the National Health Service to be sent to London as Malta’s UK High Commissioner. His appointment will be part of the new diplomatic postings to be annoucned soon.

Professor Montefort is a long-time Labour Party supporter and this will be his first diplomatic post. He wants to go to London to join his daughter who is studying there, so the government is appeasing him by making him ambassador.
