The authoritative (and authoritarian) circular by the Ministry of Education to muzzle teachers into silence, is not the first instance of the Education Directorate issuing such directives. Education Services Director Ritianne Borg Saliba’s role within the Directorate appears to be issuing these kinds of circulars.
The Director for Education Services Ritianne Saliba was slammed along with the Ministry of Education by the Ombudsman for issuing a very authoritative circular ordering disciplinary procedures against members of the Union of Professional Educators for taking industrial action.
Note, that this is the same government that pretends to supports workers’ rights and wants to introduce mandatory unionisation.
