The weird and bizarre scenes from the BRICS Summit in Kazan, Russia

The Russian-Chinese led coalition of nations that is supposed to dethrone the US Dollar met in Kazan, Russia where some surprising and surreal scenes took place. The BRICS nations met amid grand discussions of a new economic order, as gold hit an all-time high: apparently for the first time in history due to China’s discovery of the utility of a central bank that buys large quantities of it.

The scenes could have been hilarious if they weren’t dire. The host, President and Tsar of Russia, Vladimir Putin is wanted for war crimes by the International Criminal Court, yet, United Nations Secretary General didn’t mind attending the summit to meet Putin himself before a celebratory welcome. The UN Secretary-General Antรณnio Guterres recently refused to attend a Peace Summit organised by Ukraine in Switzerland.

India’s Prime Minister, Narendra Modi was also present, but he was seated apart from Xi Jinping with whom he has a border dispute and Vladimir Putin was seated between, supposedly projecting himself as a bridge-maker. However, Putin’s highlight of the Summit was his unveiling of a BRICS currency note which he showed to his guests in a scene that seemed like parody.

To commemorate the great unveiling of this made-up currency, champion of made-up currencies and Venezuela’s dictator Nicolรกs Maduro was also present at the summit.
