The BRICS Summit in Kazan, Russia ended with a meeting between the United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres and Russia’s President Vladimir Putin followed by a statement by the parties in the conferences with some points including a bizarre demand to nations “to adhere to the UN Charter”.
Russia invaded Ukraine twice, first in 2014 and then in 2022 with a full-scale invasion while Vladimir Putin is also wanted for war crimes by the International Criminal Court.
The President of Belarus and Putins’ pawn, Alexander Lukashenko was also presented at the summit where he greeted the UN Secretary-General with warm and friendly embraces. Lukashenko’s dictatorial regime imprisoned up to 1400 political dissidents.
Turkey’s President Tayyip Erdogan was also present and intends to lead his country to the path of BRICS membership. India is objecting to this due to Turkey’s close ties with Pakistan, which isn’t a member of BRICS.
