Day two of the Blackball World Championships in Malta proved highly successful for the Maltese teams, who notched up an impressive series of victories across multiple categories.
The men’s team showcased complete dominance over the Netherlands, securing a decisive 21-4 victory. The Masters team also had a strong day, defeating South Africa 16-9 but narrowly falling short against Australia with a close 13-12 loss.
The women’s team delivered standout performances, triumphing in both of their matches. They beat Madagascar 16-9 and edged out Catalonia 13-12 in a thrilling encounter.
In the Seniors category, Malta achieved a commanding 19-6 win over South Africa. The Grandmasters (60+) also had mixed results, defeating Catalonia 17-8 but later losing to Wales by the same margin, 17-8.
The under-23 team faced a tough opponent in Wales, ending in a 15-10 defeat. Meanwhile, the under-18 squad saw success, defeating Northern Ireland 14-11 and Scotland 13-12, although they were ultimately bested by South Africa, 14-11.
Rounding out the day, Malta’s under-15 team displayed remarkable skill, winning all three of their matches. They triumphed over Gibraltar 12-3, Wales 11-4, and Scotland 9-6, completing an undefeated day.
With a string of victories across divisions, Malta’s teams continue to make their mark in front of the home crowd.
