Sudanese residents of Al-Jazeera form new armed group following attack by the Rapid Support Forces

Sudanese residents expressed anger and frustration at the Sudanese Army for failing to intervene and prevent a massacre by the Rapid Support Forces in the town of Al-Jazeera, Sudan, last month. RSF terrorists descended on the town of Al-Jazeera last month committing massacres with up to 150 women  having committed suicide to prevent themselves from being captured by the RSF. The anger and frustration among the residents have now led them to form their own armed group.

The RSF genocidal militias have been committing reprisals against civilians following military setbacks.

In a speech announcing the formation of the group, the deputy political secretary of the Jazeera Liberation Al-Sadiq Adam Omer called for recruits to join their group and defend their town from future attacks by the RSF. Civilians in various towns and cities have taken it upon themselves to defend themselves against attacks by the RSF, as the Sudanese Army is stretched thin, fighting the genocidal militias on multiple fronts and unable to guarantee security for everyone. In cases where civilians have organised themselves, the Army has also lent its support notably in Al-Fashir, where a successful resistance against the RSF was mounted.

The Sudanese are currently facing a massive humanitarian crisis due to the war imposed on them by the RSF. Millions have been displaced, many into neighbouring Chad and other countries, while those who remain suffer from RSF violence, hunger, sickness, and disease. Hundreds have reportedly died this month from cholera in the town of Al-Hilaliya.
