Kavallieri Handball Crowned Louis Borg Cup Champions

Kavallieri Handball Club’s women’s team clinched the prestigious 2024/25 Louis Borg Cup in dramatic fashion, following a nail-biting 23-23 draw against La Salle Handball Club. Kavallieri secured the title on goal difference, a result stemming from their superior performance in a prior round of the Malta Hand ball Association Women’s League.

The closely contested final showcased the growing competitiveness of Maltese hand ball, with both teams demonstrating skill and resilience. Kavallieri’s triumph marks another milestone in their storied history, affirming their status as one of the top handball clubs on the island.

Record Turnout for MHA’s U-13 Handball Festival

In addition to the women’s final, the Malta Hand ball Association (MHA) celebrated another achievement this weekend by hosting a record-breaking Under-13 Handball Festival. The event saw 14 teams and 90 players participate, highlighting the sport’s growing popularity among Malta’s youth.

MHA President Daniel Tabone expressed pride in this achievement, emphasizing the importance of nurturing young talent.

“These participants are the players of the future,” Tabone said. “Thanks to the financial support from the European Handball Federation and the Central Government, clubs are able to provide high-quality training in schools across Malta and Gozo. Events like this are vital for the players’ development, and the MHA remains committed to fostering the right environment for their growth.”

Building for the Future

The festival and Kavallieri’s victory underscore a bright future for hand ball in Malta. With increased investment in youth development and infrastructure, the MHA continues to ensure the sport thrives at all levels.
