“A hospital in crisis, patients on stretchers, and the majority of admissions with chest infections. At times, we can’t even find places to put them due to the lack of oxygen points, limited space, and a shortage of staff.”
Another relative had to watch as her mother was left without dignity on a stretcher in a corridor.
“My mother is in the hospital with chest pain, but there aren’t enough beds available. The hospital is overcrowded, with one nurse left to manage seven patients alone. There are no shower facilities, no carers available, and my mother, who needs assistance, remains on a stretcher. This situation is deeply shameful”.
A health crisis caused by a severe outbreak of chest infections
This statement highlights the critical situation in a hospital facing overwhelming challenges. The influx of patients, most of whom are suffering from chest infections, has exceeded the hospital’s capacity to provide adequate care. The mention of patients on stretchers suggests that even basic accommodations like beds are in short supply.
The hospital’s infrastructure is strained further by limited oxygen points, which are crucial for treating respiratory illnesses. This indicates the facility is struggling to meet even the most fundamental medical needs. Compounding the problem is a shortage of healthcare staff, which hampers the hospital’s ability to manage the high volume of admissions effectively.
This situation could be indicative of a broader healthcare crisis, potentially linked to a surge in respiratory illnesses, such as a seasonal outbreak, poor air quality, or other public health emergencies. So far there has been no reaction from authorities.
