Al-Masri’s freedom by Italian government raises protests by African activists against the Italian government

African human-rights activists and previous individuals who endured the experience of Black slavery in Libya are protesting against the Italian government for doing a grave injustice to victims in Libya for freeing Osama Al-Masri. Al-Masri, is wanted by the International Criminal Court for crimes against humanity and is accused of widespread murder, torture and rape of prisoners along with being involved in the human-slave industry.

Amnesty International has condemned Italy’s decision to free Al-Masri as “a stunning blow to victims and survivors”. NGOs have also published videos of various kidnapped and enslaved teenage girls and boys in Kufra being tortured by their captors. They are being raped on a daily basis and a high ransom is being demanded for their release.

Thousand of Black immigrants crossing into Libya every year are captured and enslaved especially in the south-eastern district of Kufra which is under direct control of the rump dictator in Benghazi, Khalifa Haftar.
