Chided by the Prime Minister and the Cabinet

The Minister for Home Affairs, Byron Camilleri is on a press offensive tour to defend himself over the recent incident in which two Moroccans escaped the Malta International Airport from a plane which was enroute to Istanbul. The plane had stopped at the Malta International Airport for a medical emergency when the Moroccan men took the opportunity to disembark the plane and escape the airport from its airstrip.

The Minister for Home Affairs is bringing up many excuses about this security breach in what is supposedly one of the most secure locations in the country. The reality is that none of what he says is actually valid or acceptable as an excuse and not even his cabinet colleagues or the Prime Minister believe in what he is trying to say. Of course, they are supporting him in the sense that they want him to avoid making more of a fool of himself than he already did, but underneath his PR campaign is a very disappointed Prime Minister.

The Home Affairs Minister was chided for this incident by the Prime Minister and his cabinet colleagues in a cabinet meeting with very few colleagues coming to his defence. The Prime Minister has also requested explanations from the Brigadier-General over this incident and the incident will probably be used as a pretext to speed-up the government’s intended reforms of the Armed Forces of Malta.
