Exclusive: Falzon & Falzon’s Santa Martina buying Libyan heavy fuel oil from Hamsi and registering it as Turkish origin

Sources in the oil industry have confirmed with us that Falzon & Falzon’s Santa Martina has been purchasing heavy fuel oil from Hamsi, a Liberian flagged-ship that is involved in a lucrative oil smuggling trade from Libya to Hurd’s Bank.

Santa Martina is regularly purchasing oil from Hamsi in Malta and Hurd’s Bank while registering it as Turkish origin. Hamsi loads its oil from Libya and is currently in Tobruk loading with oil following a sale of heavy fuel oil to Santa Martina in Malta, yesterday.

The Customs Department is also aware of this operation.

This is a developing story.
