President of France Emmanuel Macron is holding an emergency meeting this morning in Paris with the pro-Ukrainian European leaders. Present there will be German Chancellor Olaf Scholz, Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni, Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez, UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer, Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk, Netherlands Prime Minister Dick Schoof, and Denmark’s Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen who will also be representing Norway, Sweden and Finland. Poland will be representing Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania.
NATO Secretary-General Mark Rutte will also be present along with EU Commission President Ursula von der Leyen and EU Council President Antonio Costa.
The meeting is being held in response to the strategic realignment of the United States announced last week as it tries to impose a peace-deal on Ukraine by directly negotiating with Russia on its behalf.
Meanwhile, UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer has announced yesterday, that his government is ready to send UK troops to Ukraine as a security guarantee.
A new major European arms package for Ukraine is also set to be announced.
