MCAST Principal Stephen Vella has imposed new working guidelines on MCAST lecturers, potentially increasing their already heavy workload, just as the Malta Union of Teachers announced the lifting of industrial action to begin negotiations over salary increases. The industrial dispute was originally also provoked by the MCAST Principal who had told the MUT to take their grievances to the industrial tribunal.
The new guidelines can be downloaded here.
The MUT lifted a months-long work-to-rule strike following negotiations with the government over the new Collective Agreement. Lecturers are demanding clear commitments from the government over salary increases, which so far have not been made.
