Lecturers lament lack of updates by the MUT about negotiations with the government

Members of the Malta Union of Teachers are protesting that they have not yet been updated about the ongoing negotiations between the union and the government regarding the MCAST collective agreement.

Last month, the MUT announced that it was suspending industrial action for the month of February pending negotiations. However, despite the month coming to an end, the union has yet to provide any updates. The industrial action was declared by the MUT after the MCAST Principal halted negotiations and requested the issue to be referred to the Industrial Tribunal.

The MUT has been negotiating the MCAST agreement for some 4 years now, with the agreement having been expired for more than 3 years 2 months. MUT members are requesting updates from the union’s officials who are yet muted on the matter.
