Vladimir Putin holds press conference with Lukeshanko over US proposed ceasefire proposal

Russia’s President Vladimir Putin held a press conference in Moscow with his Belarusian vassal, Aleksandr Lukashenko to give comments on the US proposed ceasefire with Ukraine. President Putin reiterated his demands for a ceasefire with Ukraine including that Ukraine does not receive further military aid that it does not join NATO. Russia is also demanding the currently Ukrainian-held territories of Kherson and Zaporizhzhia apart from official recognition of Crimea under Russian control.

The Russian President boasted that Russia does not need a ceasefire but he is in principle in favour of ending the war through talks. He also said that the current ceasefire proposal would only give Ukraine a chance to arm itself again, and appealed for President Trump to hold a phone call with him to discuss the agreement.

United States Special Envoy to the Middle East Steve Witkoff was in Moscow holding discussion with President Putin on behalf of President Trump.

There is no indication that Russia will accept the current proposed ceasefire agreement, but talks are ongoing.
