The two captured Chinese soldiers in Ukraine said they never held a gun before coming to Ukraine. The captives are Wang Guangjung and Renbo Zhang. They were captured earlier this week by the Ukrainian Armed Forces in Donbas.
Wang Guangjung told his interrogators that his commander shot a Russian officer and his group split up following the incident. He hid in a shelter with his captain and passed out after the Russians threw at them a gas canister. He said that the Ukrainians had saved his life after he fell unconscious.
This is not the first time that Chinese soldiers have been found fighting in Ukraine, but this is the first time that President Volodymyr Zelensky is taking a strong stance on the issue.
